Coaching Principles course (ASEP) & Sport First Aid course (ASEP)

The United States Fencing Coaches Association (USFCA) is proud to partner with Human Kinetics Coach Education to improve coaching knowledge and skills with online training for its member coaches.

The Coaching Principles and Sport First Aid online courses are independently accredited by the National Committee for Accreditation of Coaching Education (NCACE) and adhere to the National Standards for Sport Coaches.  Along with regional coaching clinics, the Coaches Academy, videos and written materials, the USFCA aims to enhance the coach education experience.

The self-paced online courses will allow coaches to learn from the comfort of their home and apply the information in their clubs, schools and recreation programs. Through these courses coaches may also earn continuing education units for their place of employment.

For more than 25 years the American Sport Education Program (ASEP), a division of Human Kinetics, has been the leading provider of youth, high school, and elite-level sport education programs in the United States. Rooted in the philosophy of “Athletes first, winning second,” ASEP’s courses and resources are used by local, state, and national sport organizations.

The portal for the online courses can be found under the USFCA Testing and Courses Center.  The first 100 members will receive a rebate when they complete a course within the next year.

Recommendations for Fencing Coach Education:
The USFCA recognizes that coaching is more than just knowing the X's & O's, the technique and tactics of fencing.  Coaching is also the ability to communicate positively and effectively with your athletes, parents and administrators, to have general knowledge of the sports sciences and rules of the game  We also recognize that our coaches bring a diversity of knowledge and experience to their coaching.  Whether you are just beginning your coaching journey or a veteran coach looking to improve and earn CEUs, our goal is to enhance the coach education experience while making it accessible, affordable, and consistent.  We will continuously update and improve our recommendations.
