Nominations for new Officers

The Nominations and Elections Committee of the USFCA has approved a slate of nominations for officers for the next term. The elections for officers will take place at the Annual General Meeting, held in conjunction with the National Conference. The National Conference will take place either the weekend of August 2/3, or August 9/10. Details on the conference will be announced shortly.
The proposed slate is as follows:
President: Abdel Salem – Head Coach – US Air Force Academy, CO
Exec Vice Pres: Jim Flint – Bucks County Academy – New Jersey
Treasurer: Walter Green – Salle Green - Virginia
Secretary: Paul Schimelman – Univ Texas Austin Fencing Club
East Region VP: Dayn DeRose - Drew Univ – Madison, NJ.
Southeast VP: Rick Thompson - Palmetto Fencers Club – Columbia SC
South VP: Andrei Samorodov - Alamo Fencing Academy - San Antonio, Tx
Midwest VP: Laurie Schiller - Northwestern Univ. - Chicago, IL
West VP: Peter Burchard - Halberstadt Fencers Club - San Francisco, CA

The Nominations and Elections Committee is formed of the immediate past president of the USFCA and one member from each of the 5 geographical regions. The members of the Nominations and Elections Committee are as follows:
Wendell Kubik – Chairman – Past President, USFCA
Arnold Mercado – Southeast Region
David Micahnik – East Region
Steve Behrens – Midwest Region
Carolyn Gresham – South Region
Steve Colton - West Region
Alternative nominations may be submitted by the membership. USFCA Bylaws make the following specifications regarding nominations and elections:
3) 100 days prior to that year's Annual General Meeting (AGM), the Nominating and Elections Committee shall submit its recommendations to the Executive Committee, through the person of the Secretary, who, by ninety (90) days prior to the AGM shall publish the nominations and also shall inform the membership of the petition process.
4) Nominating petitions for the offices of President, Executive Vice President, Secretary, or Treasurer shall have the signatures of at least ten (10) eligible voting members endorsing the candidate's nomination.
5) Nominating petitions for the office of Regional Vice-President shall have the signatures of at least five (5) eligible voting members from the respective region endorsing the nominee's candidacy.
6) Nominating petitions must be post-marked and/or duly received by the Chairperson of the Nominating and Elections Committee at least sixty (60) days prior to the Annual General Meeting.
Each petition for nomination must be specific for an election, and must be dated no more than nine (9) months prior to the date of the Annual General Meeting elections for which it is intended. Petitions shall be headed with the name of the office sought and the date of the election.
Each signature on the petition shall be dated. Such date may be no more than 9 months prior to the election.
7) All valid petitions received as prescribed above shall, along with the recommendations of the Nominating and Elections Committee, constitute the official election ballot.
8) All nominating petitions must include a brief biographical sketch of the nominee.
9) If there is a contested election, the Nominating and Elections Committee shall prepare and send election ballots to the eligible voting membership no later than forty-five (45) days prior to the Annual General Meeting.
